Joana Gjinopulli is an Energy Transition Associate at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), where she leads platforms that support large-scale mobilisation for the energy transition. With over eight years of experience in development finance and international organisations, she provides technical assistance across renewable energy development, grid infrastructure, and flexibility needs.

Joana holds an MSc in Energy Economics from University College London (UCL) and has worked extensively on aligning energy systems with net-zero goals. Her focus at the Forum is on hybrid dispatch and renewable integration—exploring how modernised pumped-storage assets can be synchronised with variable renewables to enable seamless ramping, grid balancing, and efficient use of excess solar and wind generation.
