The last 15 years I have held executive positions in Statkraft, Europe’s largest renewable company. My responsibilities have included Technology, Strategy, Consenting, Development, Regulatory, and Sustainability in Statkraft’s geographies. This has provided valuable insight on challenges and opportunities for hydropower in the evolving energy systems.  

From 2014 to 2025 I served as CoB for the HydroCen Research Center. I currently serve as COB Svalbard Energy and MoB for The Norwegian Geotechnical Institute. This and other previous positions have provided me relevant board experience in the sector.

Increased European focus from IHA is timely, collaboration with Eurelectric is wise. Stakeholder engagement to ensure an even playing field for hydropower is a key activity, being a key enabler for more intermittent renewable generation. I see IHA as a key driver to make this happen.

Statkraft has been an active IHA contributor nearly 20 years, and we intend to continue. Statkraft supports the San Jose Declaration and share the core values of IHA, clearly visible in our Sustainability Strategy. We strive to develop and operate assets aligned with the IHA values. We apply the mitigation hierarchy in all our activities, and we ensure transparency through transparent reporting.

IHA is a key voice in the global drive for development of sustainable hydropower and I would be honoured to contribute to this work.
