Dr. LIU Yi, Ph.D. in Engineering, is a professor of engineering, and a doctoral supervisor. He is currently the Vice President of China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR), the Director of the National Energy R&D Center for Hydropower Efficient Utilisation and Dam Safety, and the Director of the Key Laboratory of Construction and Safety of Hydraulic Engineering of Ministry of Water Resources of China. He is also both the member of the Council and the Vice Chairman of the professional committee on hydraulic structures of the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society, the member of the Council of the China Society for Hydropower Engineering, and the Deputy Chief Supervisor of Chinese National Committee on Large Dams. Internationally, he is the Director of IHA China National Office, and Member of the Committee on Computational Analysis and Design of Dams of ICOLD.  

Dr. LIU has been engaged in the related research fields of hydraulic structure simulation analysis and safety assessment, with the rich theoretical basis and practical experience in hydraulic structure engineering. He has presided over a number of National Key R&D Program and National Natural Science Foundation projects, and participated in the scientific consultation and evaluation of over 40 major national projects. He was in charge of writing 3 industry standards, authorising more than 70 invention patents, publishing 2 books and more than 100 papers.
